Braided Rawhide Dog Chews, sometimes also known as braided rawhide bones, are basically the same product as rawhide bones but with multiple rawhide strips twisted and secured together. There are normally either bound into strips or a thicker, more resilient ring shape.

The braided rawhide ring chews are designed especially for big dogs and aggressive chewers although they are welcomed by dogs of all sizes their durability is more suited to big chewers who get through rawhide bones very quickly.
The braided design have a couple of advantages over regular rawhide bones and strips. Firstly, because they are made of multiple strips of rawhide, they tend to be thicker and more durable. Secondly, the interlocking design makes it more difficult for a dog to pull off large pieces to choke on. Even pulling off small pieces is takes some work so these types of rawhide chews are a great workout for your dogs jaw muscles.
The downside is that they tend to be a little more expensive but in generally last longer unless you have a really voracious chewer. It’s not unknown for braided rawhide dog chews to last for weeks so they are cost effective.
The ring type chews are also easier for dogs to grip and hold in position.
